However, despite the obvious that the pandemic has greatly and negatively affected the effectiveness of education, Brokenshire College Toril never let up. The school made it clear that the disruptions in the students’ lives won’t prevent them from growing and learning— won’t prevent us from building vital skills for our future. As students in the said school, we saw that regardless of the crisis and the nationwide shut down of classrooms, the school provided a safe and effective alternative with no face-to-face instructions. Studying from the comfort of our own home, allowed us to relax and take advantage of the flexibility of online learning. In spite of the limited resources and cautions to take, BCT held contests and events that not only adhere to IATF minimum heath protocols, but at the same time was productive and enhanced the skills we didn’t know we had. Due to that, we accomplished to see the silver lining in the pandemic and enjoyed myself in ways that I can. Throughout all of the virtual competitions, my classmates and I were able to coordinate and improve our teamwork. It also triggered cooperation and collaboration between all of us.
At the same time, numerous students find it challenging to center their attention on the screen for a long period of time. The prominent chance of students being effortlessly diverted by social media and being preoccupied by multiple sites on the internet is not thoroughly impossible. Also, the key necessity to online learning is to have a stable internet connection, to which is not completely accessible to the entirety of the student body. Another essential must is obtaining electronic gadgets, the ones requiring a fairly expensive amount to cost; far from easy affordability. The environment where the student is learning and the capability they hold in order to understand the lesson practically by themselves are just the barest of minimums we ought to consider.
Though, in the course of numbers of months where we have been learning online, never have we once felt as if the education was lacking nor was it displeasing. Yes, there were some ups and downs, apparent faults and flaws, but it is nothing compared to the advantages the school has provided us. The certainty of it being in the middle of adjustment to the new normal is there as well. In this fast-paced world where we are left no choice but to go along with it, we found peace within the service of Brokenshire College Toril.
