The Davao Association of Private Schools & Administrators (DAPRISA) Games 2023 drew to a thrilling close after running from October 21, 2023, with Brokenshire College Toril (BCT) emerging as the dominant force, securing its place at the top of the standings.
BCT kicked off its DAPRISA campaign with a dominating performance in Table Tennis. Coached by Princess Sarah Paragsa, the BCT Paddlers’ dominance shone through as they clinched an impressive haul of 7 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 2 bronze medals, spread across the Elementary and High School categories of the competition.
In the next leg of its campaign, BCT’s prowess extended to the Lawn Tennis court, where its athletes secured a total of 4 medals. Their achievements included gold medals in the Singles B and Doubles categories, while they got silver in both the Singles A and Singles B (Elementary) categories under the guidance of Juneray Mamacos.
The BCT Badminton team continued their impressive medal haul, accumulating 5 golds, 2 silvers, and 1 bronze. Their outstanding performance led them to the title of overall winner in the Badminton games.
Under the guidance of Coach Regine Belgira, the BCT Taekwondo team, while falling short of gold medals, made a significant impact by bringing home an impressive total of 14 silver and bronze medals in DAPRISA Games ’23 Taekwondo Tournament.
In the DAPRISA Chess march, BCT athletes excelled with notable performances, including a silver medal in the Grade School Boys’ individual category and 2nd place in the team ranking. Additionally, the team also captured a silver medal in the Grade School Girls’ individual category and a bronze medal in the High School Girls’ individual category, along with a 3rd place in the team ranking.
BCT’s Arnis Team, “Brokenshire Arnis Kali Eskrima,” also showcased their dominance securing 10 gold medals in the Arnis tournament, with 9 athletes unopposed and Mark Jomel Mercado emerging as a standout in a closely contested match. The team has also qualified for the upcoming DCAA Meet in February 2024.
In the intense Swimming Competition, BCT athletes made an impressive splash, clinching 17 awards across various categories. Standout performances included that of Murillo, Podunas, and Gerodiaz securing 1st place finishes.
The BCT Sepak Takraw team, under the guidance of Coach Sir Ron Jacob Tan, and the BCT Athletics team, coached by Ma’am Richpearl Nuñal, face no challengers and are set to proudly represent both BCT and the DAPRISA community at the forthcoming DCAA Meet in February 2024.
In BCT’s team sports, the BCT Aces Women’s Volleyball team fell short of a Semi-Final berth, yielding to Ford Academy of the Arts.
Despite their undefeated streak in the DAPRISA Volleyball matches, the BCT Aces Men’s faced disappointment, failing to secure the gold and champion title, ultimately settling for the silver medal. This outcome came after a closely contested match against last year’s championship opponent, AMSAI School.
In basketball, under the guidance of coaches Abbas Johnny Pumbaya Jr. and Aquilles Rojas, the team managed to secure the bronze medal, capping off their journey with a match against Lamb of God SPED Academy.
The BCT Pep Squad wowed the audience with their Barbie-themed performance, earning them the title of 1st runner-up in the DAPRISA Cheerdance competition, narrowly missing the top spot by just one point, as they went head-to-head with Precious International School of Davao.
All winners and qualified participants from DAPRISA are now en route to the highly anticipated Davao City Athletic Association (DCAA) games set for February 2024.
